Like to be a music major, you have to do Music History in high school to be a music major in college.

  1. you might want to take an science ap. for example AP bio, AP chem or supa science classes if you live in NY

  2. During high school strongly consider taking plenty of challenging math and science courses, including AP courses in biology, chemistry, physics, precalculus/calculus, and psychology

Enhance your communication skills through taking English composition, speech, and drama classes.

  3. Most colleges just care if you get a high school diploma.  Some schools have them divided up into broad categories like Technical and College Prepatory diplomas so you want to make sure you go with that.  To go with your example, if you wanted to be a music major in college you could definately do that without taking "Music History" in high school.  It's just that when you started your college coursework you might have to study a little more than another student who already took a Music History class before.

But basically just try to take some higher level courses in math and health so you have more of the knowledge already when you hit the university courses.  Only take AP classes if you think you can make A/B, otherwise stick with regular.

You can always contact an admissions officer at the college and make sure you have the right credits to get entry.

  4. I would make sure to take a good amount of science and math classes
