I'm renwing my passport at around the same time as applying for a student visa to Turkey. Does my passpot have to be valid for a certain period before I leave, or after? (so, it doesn't expire while I'm there)

  1. I'm fairly sure that you must have at least 6 months validity left on a passport for any visa BEYOND THE PERIOD you will spend in-country.

So if you are going to Turkey for June and July, coming home around August 1st, your passport cannot run out before the end of January 2008.

You'll need to contact the Turkish Embassy (or Consulate) near you to confirm the period of validity.

  2. i think it has to be like at least six months.

  3. Usually countries won't let you in without six months or a year left on your passport.

It doesn't really matter if your passport expires whilst in Turkey, because you can apply for a new passport at your Embassy in Turkey and then get the visa transferred into the new passport.

  4. your passport must be valid ,the amount of time of your studies , plus 6 months , once your receive your new passport , it is valid from there on, most passport are valid for 10 years ;you will not study for the whole amount , if it were to be that long? you could always renew it while in another country .

  5. the passport should be valid on the period you apply for student visa, if you renew your passport, that would be enough, i think that is for about 5 years

if it expires later for various reaasons, you apply later for extenind it from turkey

  6. no but you must have 6 months left on your passport to enter the country

  7. No.

Your passport is valid from the day you receive it back renewed.   Most countries require that it have a valid date beyond your intended stay in their country.
