  1. Don't think there are any specialty garlic restaurants but

    you could try:

    Amiconi Restaurant

    (03) 9328 3710, 359 Victoria St West Melbourne 3003

Open: Lunch: Mon-Fri noon-3pm. Dinner: Mon-Sat from 6- 10pm, Closed: Most public holidays; Licensed, BYO, Corkage $1 Person; Cards all, Seats inside 65, Seats outside 12

Most diners are on first name basis with the owners at Amiconi's of which there have only been two in 40 years. It's the sort of place you go to catch up with old friends. Not too noisy but with a happy buzz, and attentive staff to look after you. Expect old-style dishes, lots of garlic and enough fuss to make you feel cared for.

  2. Try Lygon Street at Carlton.  It's full of Italian resturants and those Italians love their garlic!

  3. Try French Restaurants:

    Bergerac

    Le Gourmet

    Paris Go Bistro

    Vue de Monde

    Bistro Vite
