With all the fighting over the 2nd. Amendment,all the other amendments might have been repealed already.

Yes. According to certain Supreme Court decisions made in the last 15 years of so, state government cannot be forced by the federal government to conduct backgroud checks on people purchasing guns. That was the Printz vs. US decision in the mid-1990s, if I recall it correctly. There have also been rulings which struck down federal laws (but not similar state laws) which banned guns from being within a certain distance of public schools and which empowered rape victims to sue their attackers in federal courts.
