yes alot some of the main ones being holding the ball, push in the back, gettin ur opponent too high etc.....

Yes, though sometimes it looks like there isn't any.

A few years back there used to be only one central umpire to control the game. There were distinct rules in relation to the basics, such as......holding the ball; holding the man; in the back etc. Most of the players were conversant with the rules & there used to be plenty of rough tough matches.

The powers to be have seen fit to make the game faster & have played with the rules over a number of years. These rule changes & better well drained grounds have seen the game become much quicker.

Now the umpires don't blow the game up a fraction as much & encourage the game to flow. This has resulted in the bigger player (except for tall ruckmen) being phased out of the game - because they just cannot keep pace. Plus players are retiring (odd exceptions of course) at around 30 years of age. In the past all the good footballers went until about 35!

The main rule is, dont ask stupid questions or risk being shot down in flames. wheres the christmas spirit guys, ho ho ho, ooops cant say that anymore either.
