I am a high school senior in California and will be attending BYU in Provo, UT in the fall. I was cheated out of $9,000.00 a year because I am choosing to attend an out of state school due to religious preferences. I have a 3.96 GPA and got a 26 on the ACT. I sing in the choir, am in leadership, play volleyball and was the captain on both the diving team and the girls' flag football team.

  1. You can go to

    http://www.all-about-scholarship.com

    it's about scholarships/grants information.

    Good luck

  2. It is your choice to attend an out of state school.  You are not being cheated in any form or fashion.  And no, choosing an out of state school is not something that normally gives one scholarships because again, its your choice.

Places like fast web are good, i suppose, but this late in the year you aren't likely going to have many who's deadlines haven't passed.  Your best luck will be either at that out of state school, or whatever religious affiliation the school is tied to.  Example, check with your local church leaders to see if they know of any opportunities.

    Good luck.

  3. I would not say you were cheated out of money.  There are guidelines for state funding and if one of them is remaining in-state to receive your education then those are the breaks.  Does your religion really state you can only attend a specific type of school?  Seems rather narrow-minded in my opinion, but to each his own.  :-)

AT any rate, follow Nekiah's advice on where to look for scholarship funding.  Good luck in your new school!

  4. Go to fastweb, they might have info. on scholarships that are available.  Just fill in all your information.
