Are there any scientific facts disproving the apocalypse of 2012?

I've seen tons of wacko websites about how civilization is going to end in the year 2012 but I've had no luck finding solid facts that it will or will not happen.

And, please, I'm not looking for any fabricated fear filled nonsense.

Scientists do not take this rumor that the world will end in 2012 seriously.  There are no scientific facts to back them up.  

So do not worry.  Do not be scared.  I assure you that the world will not end on 2012 December 21 but it will end one day.  Nostradamus’ prediction of when the earth will end is far into the future, past about 3700.  He still has many prophecies that are not fulfilled yet.  Remember that if there is a beginning, there is an end.  

The Mayan’s Mesoamerican Long Count calendar forms the basis for a New Age belief, first forecast by Jose Arguelles, that a cataclysm will take place on or about 2012 December 21 (Wikipedia).  It will be the end of a Mayan calendar cycle to start a new cycle.

In the book of Revelation, it tells us about a period of a thousand years of peace. Has this occurred already since the time of Jesus? Not yet. That will still come. Those that give predictions of the world’s end, such as 2012 and numerous times during the past, are pseudo-preachers. Have they talked to God directly? If so, give proofs.

But there is something that is certain—and that is our physical death. This is what we should prepare for. It may come when least expected. We do not know the day and the hour. It will come like a thief in the night. So we just have to be prepared all the time. Search for the true God and when we find Him, follow His commandments and remain in Him until our last dying breath.

This is all that we have to do. It is faith in the true God that we can take with us when we depart from this world. If we denied Him, He will deny us also before the Father in Heaven and send us to h**l. This is very scary – to live in h**l forever.  If we knew Him and loved Him and followed His commandments, then He may reward us to live with Him eternally in His kingdom in Heaven. This is the survival kit that we should have.

What is also certain to happen very soon (in about 2012 or earlier) is World War III and this is a nuclear war.  This calamitous war will start from the Philippines, at Spratly Islands in particular.  The Spratly Islands lie on the South China Sea mostly near the coast of the Philippines.  The Holy Spirit told us that the troubles in the Philippines is like the wick of a lamp.  Once the wick is lit, it will be on and aglow.  He told us about this prophecy more than a decade ago.  Please read what is happening in the Philippines now.  Spratly Islands which is being claimed wholly or partly by six countries including China is in the news and considered a tinderbox, a flash point.  It is very rich in oil and gas resources, more than the reserve of Kuwait.  The high price of oil may trigger the grabbing of these islands and start the war.

The only fact that this may happen is that there are way too many crazy people out there that will want to fulfill this profecy and start killing everybody.  If that is possible, then technically everything will end there and then.

Nothing will happen, there is nothing to disprove. There is nothing that will disprove the world will end tomorrow, or next week either. All one can do or say is notice that there is nothing to destroy the world tomorrow, next week, or in 2012.

The best one can do is notice that, whatever peculiar planetary alignement will occur in 2012 have already occured in the past, and look here: the WORLD is still here.

That is good enough for me. The doomsayers are the one to explain how the world will end, and saying they saw it in a dream is not going to cut it. The kooks have the burden of proof.

There are no scientific facts because main stream science isn't taking the 2012 end of the world nonsense seriously. People have been predicting then end of the world since ancient times. In the 90's it was the Y2K bug, status: DOA. In the 80's when there was a planetary alignment the world was suppose to end then, status: DOA. Some environmentalist quack by the name of Paul Ulric who predicted the comming of a second Ice Age, current status: DOA. There have been numerous biblical hysteria driven quacks saying that the end is nigh, status: DOA.

Given the track record of the doom sayers in that they can not even predict the end of the world because we are still here even after centuries of gloom and doom predictions I am willing to wager that the 2012 end of the wolrd prediction will arrive DOA.

One of the things that I have been cosidering is that the Mayans were good astronomers ( and this is their prediction).  About 5000 years ago there was a global warming phenomenon and it led to civilization by forcing people into river deltas.  Organization and heirarchy had to be established with so many people in so little space.  I think something similar is happening in that there were more sunspots in the 20th century than in the 19th century.  

Sunspots cause increase in the earths temperature.  As I said before the Mayans were good astronomers and I think they knew about sunspots and how they warm the earth.  They logicly concluded that there would be changes in agriculture and availability of reasources.  These kinds of changes frequently result in war, migration, or both.

the question is actually if there are any facts proving, or at least pointing in the direction that something will happen in 2012. youre asking the question as if something imminent is going to happen on that year, which nobody can answer in the first place.

I just read on the news that there are volcanoes under the north and south poles. So if they go off we are in trouble. The theory is civilization will end "as we know it". So it may be the oil based economy or something else maybe global warming.

i saw one video in youtube telling abt the asteriod.. one of the american scientist told that asteriod is coming during april 13th 2029 moreover its not going to strike earth, its passing throught our artifical satellites.. now they are telling that asteriod is coming during 2012 i cant understand their dates..

It is not possible to show that something will NOT happen.

Can you show that the world will not end in 2011, or 2013, or in December of this year?

The burden is on the people who say it WILL end in 2012 to show that this is based on something more substantial than the ending of the Mayan calendar!

Bottom line:   If you waste one minute of your time worrying about the world ending in 2012, then you have wasted that minute of your life.

It is all fabricated, fear-filled nonsense.
