Are there any studeis that validate the occassional claim that living, working, or attending school near a busy road of expressway can be jeoperdizing to one's health? And does this apply only to asthmatics or people with pre-existing lung or heart conditions, or can simply being in these high traffic areas actually slowly detiorate the cognitive function of otherwise healthy people with strong immune systems and absolutely no medical problems?

  1. i live by an expressway system, and i keep forgetting stuff. so maybe its true !!!

  2. It's hard to know. I went to a high school near an expressway and the noise often made it difficult to hear the teacher. Didn't seem to affect me (as far as I know).

  3. It used to be thought to cause slight IQ loss because of the lead in the fuel, but they no longer use lead in fuel.

Studies did show a decrease in IQ for people living in major industrial areas, but as we know, correlation isn't proof of causation.
