Are there any seaside resorts near Istanbul without travelling too far?

I will be visiting Istanbul four four days in September and after all the sightseeing would like to relax somewhere scenic and preferably by the sea. Without travelling all day, as this would mean precious time and money, where can I go for five or six days?

After only four days in Istanbul you may well want to stay longer. However, if you have a further five or six days to relax in, I would suggest either Iznik (not on the sea but it has a lake and is scenically, and historically beautiful), or the Aegean coast  - Assos or Ayvalik for example.

All of these destinations are easily accessible from Istanbul and could certainly entertain you for that length of time. Nearer locations such as the Princes Islands or Kilyos (on the Black Sea) are worth a visit but would only warrant a day each.
