Question:

Are there any shared Chinese/Japanese names?

The other day my mom was on a Chinese website reading an article about a few Japanese celebrities (can't remember which ones). She read the names out loud in Chinese, which made them sound kind of funny since they sounded nothing like typical Chinese names. So that made me wonder... are there any Japanese names that could pass as Chinese names or vice versa?

  1. There are some Japanese-born Chinese people who are named in Chinese, but pronounce their names in Japanese.  Of course _those_ names would pass as Chinese names, since they are =D

Otherwise, I've never heard a Japanese first name or last name that would sound that great in Chinese, though I'm sure there are a few first names that could work.  But Japanese last names definitely don't.  Haha Tanaka would become "tianzhong"!
