all candles can be used for spells (i prefer to call them visualisations).  the only difference between a 'spell' candle and a regular candle is the mark-up in price and the cow taking advantage of you behind the counter... go to ikea and buy them in bulk.

paganism is about psychology and learning how to cut the c**p.  the people who run these shops are idiots, dont give them your money.
