I have PCOS and I have always been irregular. Recently is when i found out that I was PCOS and started a low carb diet because my doctor said that it looked like from my ultra sound that I had never ovulated or either only had spontaneous ovulation ever once in a while. When I went on the low carb diet my period was induced (first one in 7 months). I'm also on metformin now as well. Today is day 13 of my cycle and I was just wondering if anyone ever had any obvious symptoms of ovulation? Later if I start my period again I go on clomid but I would rather try to conceive without clomid if possible. I have been TTC for 3yrs. I would really like for this to work out and I know that if I have a normal cycle that I'd be ovulating sometime around now and I just need to know everything I can about checking for ovulation. Please help if you have any advice. Oh and I know that the doctor can do a 21 day progesterone test but I also know that it will be too late at that point. Plus if any of you can give me some advice to increase my chances of getting pregnant if I am ovuating? Earlier today I had a little pain in both my sides but it didn't last long. Thanks everyone.

  1. I was TTC with PCOS for 7 years and it took clomid to get me pregnant. Also what helped me alot was a website that is for women with PCOS.

  2. I also have PCOS and irregular periods without ovulation being evident. After losing 115 pounds and being on Metformin I conceived without help. It was a blighted ovum and I miscarried, but I conceived again 6 weeks later. What I have noticed is pain around my ovaries for about a day. I also have thicker, stringier mucus for about three days around ovulation. These signs were present both times I became pregnant. Hope this helps! I know it is frustrating, I TTC for 12 years before it all worked, and I think think the Metformin is what did the trick. Best of luck! It was about 8 months of Metformin. I had also been on BC because my periods were so irregular, not at all then too long. I did that for 8 months, and got pregnant the first month I was off the BC.

  3. One of the biggest signs of impending ovulation is cervical fluid that resembles eggwhites. It is called "eggwhite cervical mucus," or ewcm for short. If you have s*x every day that you see this ewcm, you will have a chance of conceiving. When there is no more ewcm you can trust that you've probably already ovulated.

    Good luck!
