And I don't mean somehting that can be bought. I mean that are there any simple tricks to see if it was made in your room?

I stayed at a motel with a pool, but the whole room smelled like chlorine and chemicals but I don't think they had anything to do with the pool.

AND WHAT'S METH SMELL LIKE?

  1. Check for burn marks on the ceiling. lol Idk.  As for smelling it, I've never knowingly been in a place where it has been made but have always thought that unless you have done it you wouldn't be able to recognize it.  I can't really explain what it smells like.  If you smell anything you don't recognize then I say get out and find another place to stay.  Also, users  are more prominent in cheaper hotel rooms but not always.  I've gotten high in plenty of pricey hotels.

  2. Personally, I stay in the higher end hotels, not extended stay hotels, just for that reason, or camp out at the KOA.

If a hotel has any cause the think there are bio-hazards, in a room, they have to have it cleaned.  There are no laws on the books, as to the bio-hazard clean up except:

If a suicide in a vehicle, then a notice should be attached.  But if all material removed, then resale is possible with out notice.

If a suicide or homicide occurs in a home, apartment, or motel/hotel, as long as adequate clean is performed, then homes, have to have death listed for three years in most states.  Motels/hotels, just have to have bio hazards removed.  There is no inspection.

If a bio-hazard is one that is a chemical bio-hazard, then any thing that is porous, some infra-structure, ceilings, sheet rock, all carpet, bedding, furniture, wood work, floor tiles, counter tops, every thing right down to the wood studs, have to be removed and destroyed in a bio-dump.

Reason:  The chemicals used to create meth, or process any drug, seeps into each and every crack, in the area.  It creates a film that coats every thing, and soaks in.  The chemical residue, can create breathing problems, learning disabilities, and poisoning.  Lung damage,

liver damage, eye damage, brain damage among just a few of the long term effects of the remains of a drug lab.

As to the smell, it is based on the recipe the cook used.  Usually there is the presence of ammonia,  and chloride.  The smell is one you will know the rest of your life.

Go to your doctor, tell them you suspect that you were exposed to a bio hazard, and why.  Ask for a simple blood test for the chemicals.

Another big worry about hotels, is this bedding.  If I absolutely have to stay in one, I take a black light bulb.  When I check in, I removed the regular light bulb in the bath and in the room.  Pull back all the covers,  look at the bedding, any soft seats, furniture.  Check the bath room, if any thing in either illuminates to the black light, go back and ask for another room, and tell them why.  If they give you any nonsense about it, then do it loudly.

I would suspect that there was a suicide or homicide, rather than a drug lab.  Reason:  Suicide and homicides, are cleaned up with ammonia and bleach, repairs made and re-rented when it involves a hotel/motel room.

But, with those come a new set of worries, while the chemicals involved in a drug lab, if not properly cleaned up, can make one sick for a long time.  There have been situations where a suicide or homicide wasn't cleaned up properly, like blood left under carpets, in bedding or furniture.  These can carry live viruses, bacteria, and diseases.  They can make one sick for up to TEN years after the event.

Notify the hotel or motel.  And the state health board.  You may be able to save some one else the worry.

  3. YOU HAVE A BAD NOSE IF YOU CAN`T SMELL METH. THAT STUFF STINKS LIKE h**l ON WHEELS. I WOULD NEVER BE IN A ROOM OR WITHIN 1500 FEET OF THAT c**p.
