Ah, no. Not even close. Are you visiting or do you live here? The best you can do is get lessons. Below are some shops which give lessons,

Air and Speed surf shop (montauk)

Sunset surf shop (montauk)

Espo's surf shop (montauk)

Main Beach surf and sport (Wainscott, about 30 min. away)

Even if you think you're too advanced for lessons, get some from Main Beach. If you're looking for help with shortboarding, ask for this guy Corey, who is pretty good. If you're just visiting, all the hotels (the few there are) are booked throughout the summer, and unless you have friends out here there's really no place to stay.

Also, summer's not the best time for surfing on the East Coast (that's a huge understatement). Though we did see some swell a couple days ago, and I expect some more this weekend. Also, there's a tropical storm that spun off Africa, and may or may affect us. So its really a crapshoot of whether ther'll be waves.
