Are there any small, free, programs that alert you that you have new email?

i have Thunderbird email. when i turn on my computer, there's no alert to

show i have new email. instead, i have to click on its icon to see if i have

any new email.

anyone with suggestions?

Why doesnt your ISP provide that service?

If your computer is turned off, the connection to the server is broken.

When re-booted, you must re-establish that connection, via the protocol (POP3) with the password etc. so your situation is what you make it.

You will always have to initiate some type of mail log in & request for mail.

You can set up free Email on Yahoo and you will see an alert when you log on.
