  1. Hotels in Spain are not likely to be smoke-free, especially because smoking is part of European culture.  But there is always the option of trying to find hotels with seperate rooms that might be smoke free.

  2. All hotels in Spain are Non - Smoking. The may have a pub/bar in the hotel for smokers & these are seperate from the non-smoking bar/pub.

I have just returned from Benidorm & frequently visit every 3 months & each hotel I've stayed in operates a no smoking policy.

A great hotel to stay in is the Flamingo Oasis, (all inclusive) Benidorm - check it out here!

  3. check out this website:

    www.playasenator.com

It's a chain of hotels in Spain, and they are all smokefree (and have all inclusive offers) about 90% of the hotels are on a beach (or are within walking distance of a beach). They are mostly on the coastal areas of Andalucia: Huelva, Cádiz, Málaga, Granada and Almería. And there are also 2 in the Canary Islands.

The website will give you full information, including the e-mail address through which you can make reservations if it suits you.

  4. There are plenty of smoke free hotels in Spain

  5. Yes Loads ;) x

  6. Some good advise already given especially the website for the chain of non smoking hotels. Just for your advise. Since January last year their has been new legislation in place regarding smoking in public places, restaurants bars etc. Each place is supposed to put a sign on the door stating whether it is smoking or non smoking. It also depends on the size of the place. But keeping it real simple so this is not too long, a bar can nominate whether it is smoking or non smoking. If they choose to be smoking then children under 16 are not allowed. Of course that is a big condsideration because of the family thing in bars and restaurants in Spain. Or they can be non smoking in which case kids can be their. (This is for small bars) It's kind of catch 22, whatever you choose you lose out. However, a few months after the law came in, most bars no longer had signs outside stating if they are smoking or non smoking. Most bars you go into you will see smoking and young kids inside as well. Typical of Spain, why keep to the law when you can bribe a local official for 50 Euros to go away. So please ensure that the place you choose is smoking free. Also if you decide to eat out. Take care now and have a great holiday

  7. I wonder how hotels can even offer non smoking rooms... how do they check that ?  I worked in a hotel and do not know of one non smoker room that wasn't smoked in....

  8. Two possibilities:

    1) I found one hotel, but near the mountains:

    Hotel Els Frares

    http://www.inn-spain.com

Avenida Pais Valencia 20, 03811 Quatretondeta

    tel 0034 96 5511234

    fax 0034-96 5511200

Smokefree hotel/B&B with restaurant and bar in restored stables (the one exception to the smoking policy is the patio). Rooms price range from 46 to 60 euros + taxes per night. First class cuisine. recommended by the "Times" of London as "Best place to Stay" 1999. Guided mountain walking holidays available.

    2) I also found a site that supposedly lists smoke free hotels, but gives a 404 Not Found when you click it. However, it gives good advice on:

How to avoid breathing secondhand tobacco smoke in a hotel or motel.

After once wrongly "assuming" all upscale hotels would have completely separate smoke-free floors, and as my travel needs increased I learned that many hotels continue to mix smoking and non-smoking rooms on the same floors.

Here are some tips on how to protect your health when 100% smoke-free hotels are not available.

ÃƒÂ¢Ã‚—Š Always call in advance (even if on the road at the last minute), and explain about your desire to protect your health, especially if you have a chronic illness, and that under no circumstances do you wish to be exposed to any amount of smoke. I have yet to have a desk clerk not tell the truth, and even admit whether they will or will not enforce their smoking policies.

ÃƒÂ¢Ã‚—Š Continue to call until you find one that will have a corner of rooms that are surrounded by all smoke-free rooms (including above and below). Even some of the smaller motels now restrict all smoking rooms to just a few in a corner of the top floor.

ÃƒÂ¢Ã‚—Š Check or ask if the room will be exposed to smoke traveling through open atriums connected to other floors or down hallways if smoking is on the opposite side of the building

ÃƒÂ¢Ã‚—Š Be sure they don't have a bar or restaurant inside the lobby that allows smoking.

ÃƒÂ¢Ã‚—Š If you do find yourself with smoke coming into your room make them find you another room where you will be safe, no matter how late it is.

The most important factor is finding lodging that it is safe from tobacco smoke.

*** Please note that many smoke-free hotels allow smoking on the balconies or patios.  Hotels may wish to consider providing separate buildings where smoking on the balconies or patios is not permitted so guests can enjoy their accommodations with the windows open.

We hope you will email us with any hotels or motels you have found that have a 100% ban on smoking.

Please come back each time you travel to see if we have located smoke-free overnight accommodations at your destinations.

Please let us know if you find we have an error, and have incorrectly listed a hotel as smoke-free. We will provide as much information concerning their smoke-free policies as we have available.

  9. all hotels in Spain are mainly non smoking but they have a small smoking area so you should not have any problem avoiding a smokey atmosphere.
