I have extremely dry skin, and recently found out that soap is what has been causing severe irritation on some parts of my body. Are there any alternatives?

  1. I'm sure that there are.  Have you tried a castille soap - it is made from 100% olive oil.  This might be a good option for you.

  2. Try cetaphil

    website attached.

  3. there are Avène or  vichy  products in the pharmacy.

    suitable for allergies dry skin.

  4. Okay, so I'm a bit of a skin geek because of my son's severe eczema and learned far more than I ever wanted to know.  Our pediatrician said he was one of the 10 worst cases he had seen in 30 years of pediatrics .

You may very possibly be experiencing a reaction to the sulfates in your soaps (check your ingredient label - this will be listed first).  Also these types of products are usually full of added fragrance, color, and in many cases animal product as well.  All known skin irritants.  These products also tend to dry the skin by removing the natural skin oils in addition to not rinsing clean and leaving a residue.

I personally recommend either the cleansing gel or baby hair and body wash from Arbonne International.  These 2 products are free of the sulfates using instead decyl glucoside.  This is a very mild foaming agent that does not strip, irritate, or leave a residue on the skin.

There is more information all this through my website at www.babysoft.myarbonne.com.   I trust this helps you as it has given me the ability to kiss my baby's cheeks which I could do last summer at all.   I am pleased to say that based on my sons experience and the information I shared with my pediatrician that he is now recommending Arbonne to his patients.

Also on a practical note you will want to pat dry after bathing rather than rubbing yourself with the towel.  If you feel the need to use a moisturizer steer clear of products containing mineral oil, petrolatum or white petrolatum.  These are highly occlusive and can actually clog pores and make skin dryer and interfere with skin function.  Arbonne carries these as well.
