Question:

Are there any special ceremonies for princes and princesses?

I mean, in the same fashion as a coronation ceremony?

Would it happen during infancy, like a christening ceremony, or are there also "coming of age" ceremonies too?

And what if there's a new prince(ss) introduced into the family, or a long-lost one like Anastasia? Would there be a sort of ceremony for that, or would it just be like a celebration/ball/whatever, and that's it?

  1. Depends on the country. In England there is a special ceremony when the Queen (or King) invests her (his) elder son (daughter) as prince of Wales. In Spain they aslo do it for the Prince of Asturias. In countries such as France the Dauphin borns being the legitimate heir to throne. Now if Anastasia will appear i´m sure that the Romanovs will make a big fuss and will probably held a ceremony to present her to the world.

  2. It really depends on the country... sometimes, special ceremonies are held during their 16th, 18th or 21st birthdays.

  3. I've heard about a secret ceremony where the princes closest personal servants are symbolically lashed and then forced to urinate whilst lying on their backs.

But then again, it's not unusual to have a whip-round and a p**s up on somebody's birthday!

  4. There are christenings(baptisms).

Pictures of these celebrations are often published.

There are special ceremonies for the investiture of the Prince of Wales in the UK

Prince Charles was invested as Prince of Wales by The Queen on 1st July 1969 in a colourful ceremony at Caernarfon Castle. His uncle, Lord Snowdon, masterminded the event.Lord Snowdon,then-husband of Princess Maragret, was Constable of Caernarvron Castle.

When a woman is wed to a prince and becomes a princess, the wedding itself is the ceremony;no other ceremonies are necesary.

And as to the Anastasia question;Anastasia's partial remains were discovered and identified as such recently. If another long-lost princess were to appear, maybe she'd have a party, but no ceremonies are necesarry.Princesses are usually born so there are no ceremonies needed.Women who become princesses through marriage have their wedding ceremonies.
