  1. Well.. you certainly don't want to wear shoes that soles are made of metal but as the one person said,   there are no shoes that will dissipate the energy from a lightning strike.

  2. ever heard of rubber soled sneakers

    they are all the rage

  3. There are no special shoes that are going to have a breakdown voltage high enough to protect against lightning strikes.  Consider that the breakdown voltage of the best boots for people working around extremely high voltages that I've seen were only good to around 700 kV.  With a lightning bolt, the voltage can be up around 100 MV.  The special boots aren't going to do much.

  4. I suggest that you not worry about this highly improbable cause of death.  Worry about heart disease, cancer, diabetes, influenza, and so forth.

  5. There are high-voltage protective boots but they're only good

to about 3000 volts.  For protection from lightning, the soles

would have to be 6 feet thick.

  6. The voltage in a lightning bolt is far too high for any kind of protective footwear to guard against. If you are really worried about a lightning strike, avoid going outside when there is a risk of lightning, and if you are outside, get to a location where the likelihood of a strike is reduced. Lightning (and all electricity) seeks the shortest easiest path to earth. Therefore, don't stand under a tree in a lightning storm - get down as low as you can, and you should be okay.
