  1. Not that I know of. The highways are always state maintained.

  2. In Kentucky, which is a backward state anyways... have broken up the State and US highways that run through this wonderful state (Not the interstates) into County maintnence. This means that US HWY 127 in Owen county is maintained only by Owen county road crews, this also gives them the liberty to make the road name for mail perpouses (Frankfort, Road in Owenton, KY) anything they want.... other example, US HIGHWAY 421N in frankfort is maintained by Franklin County Rd Crews yet CASTLE HWY in Henry county (Same Rd Number US 421) is maintained by Henry County Rd Crews.... in this state atleast it makes traveling difficult because your not sure county to county what the road that you are driving is going to be like once you get on it.......

Now where i am from in Colorado all roads outside of the designated City Limits are maintained by the state, unless posted on the road "Not State Maintained" in this case its usually a dirt road and is maintained by the residents.Much simpler eh?

  3. I'm noy sure but maybe if they did something would be done right for once.

  4. Why would they do that, they would loose to much free and wasteful money that the government is just handing out.

  5. it seems to me that would be illegal.  the state highways and county highways have different types of signs so you can tell whose responsible for the roadway.  federal highways like all the I roads  I-95 I-4 i-75 have their own distinguishable signs.

if you look at any good road map usually on the bottom they"ll tell you which signs are for which owner.
