Question:

Are there any summer camps for kids on cruise ships (with activities such as arts and crafts, archery, etc.)?

I don't mean camps where the kids learn about marine biology or study anything sea-related aboard a little yacht (not that there is anything wrong with that, but I'm looking for something more along the lines of a large boat with a swimming pool and/or other cruise ship amenities, and not as many educational activities as some other at-sea camps).

  1. yes there are on royal carribean or carnival. Royal Caribbean is way better if you are going with kids over 10.

  2. You can get on the ship and forget about the kids.  There are programs for them.  I have been on several cruises with my two boys and have to go look for them because they are so engrossed with their activities.

  3. The answer to your question is, yes and no.  First of all, no archery.  You cannot shoot things on the ship and you cannot shoot things into the water.

All the ships have pools, but most are not going to take your kids to the pool for you.  If your kids want to go swimming, you have to take them yourself.

Nonetheless, the children's programs are not just educational in nature.  There are always activities that are simply fun to do.  Nonetheless, for the most part, these activities are limited to those areas where the kids program is located.  As the children get older, so activities are planned for outside the children's program, but they don't include swimming.

For the teenagers, the activities are geared more toward the activities that teenagers like (their own disco with a soft drink bar, a room limited to teenagers for just hanging out or playing games).

  4. Carnival ships have camp carnival, and they are great for kids. The divide the kids up into age groups, and they have counselors with each group doing different activities. I have been taking cruises with my son since he was 9 (he is 16 now), and he still loves it. In fact he has so much fun, we hardly ever see him, because he is usually to busy for us. The camp does start out for younger kids as well. What is nice about camp carnival, is that they are with kids their own age, playing games and activities they like to do. There are usually a lot of kids on carnival ships, but they are so busy, you don't even notice them, so you have time to do the things you want to do too. Go to their website, or call them for more information, and have a great time.

  5. Camp Carnival on Carnival cruise line is great for kids....my kids never want to leave.  Depending on their age they have activities like twilight pool parties, make-your-own pizza parties, tee-shirt designing, and my older daughter even got to go backstage after a show and the dancers had a little dance class for them!

  6. They have a lot of different things for kids to do on ships, but nothing is overnight.  many things are for most of the day.
