Are there any tips or tricks that I can use to keep my nose from bleeding so easily while sparring/boxing?

"Yeah, don't get hit in the nose." Har har har. Try some original comedy next time.

I'm working on my defense, but it seems every time I get hit in the nose, it's instant blood. My trainer said inhaling salt water through the nose works? I dunno. Anyone else have any tips?

  1. A guy from my gym was having similar troubles, and so started taking 'caltrite' supplement.. or something similar it was called. I think it was just really a calcium tablet, and i was skeptical, but he claimed it worked. The other thing, is a procedure where part of inside of your nose is burnt. Not sure what it does, no idea how it works.. just know its helped many a boxer. Probably a better bet really.

  2. pluck one by one every hair from both your nostrils.  I am not being silly, you need to toughen up the skin in there.  You might bleed a touch more the first go round after that, but after that it will bleed less.  make sure you keep them plucked.

It is just a suggestion, I never had that problem.  Both of my eyes have been cut pretty good, but I never had your problem.

  3. you can use nosebleed which you can get from ringside.com the only downside to that is it is expensive to use often. You can also use a tissue to put in your nose until the bleeding stops or Vaseline.

Although you may not want to hear this your best strategy is defense and there are different ways to look at defense...

1.Your best defense is a strong offense. Out punch your opponent in every round and continuously put pressure on him so it is difficult for him to punch.

2.concentrate on your body and foot movement so you can slip and evade punches.

3.Put these two skills together and you will be unstopable. one one hand you will beat the h**l out of your opponent and then you will let him miss his punches which will take even more energy out of him.

  4. Fact is there is only one way to stop this although I laughed my *** off at alot of these answers.

Simply go to the doctor and get your nose souldered. It hurts but it works. Qurterising the blood veins is the sure fire way. I had mine done and I haven't had a problem since.

  5. Cover up better. Really, the only thing that will work. Besides, your nose bleeding will reduce itself in time. Every time a blood vessel breaks, it gets thicker during the healing process. Your nosebleeding will reinforce your bloodvessels over time. Cauterizing is not a too good idea. Of course, it works, but your nasal mucosa might be damaged, becaus it gets less blood. This might lead to an advanced sensitivity for infections and in the worst case to a loss of your sense of smell.

  6. Make sure you use vasoline and put a thin coat of it on your face, chin, over your eyes, and in and around your nose. I also put some on my headgear and on my gloves, as does whoever I'm sparring. I get bloody noses pretty easily, as well, and I find that keeping my nose moist with vasoline, instead of dry, helps a lot.
