  1. I don't do jumpers, but I do h/j, and while most courses are very basic, I sing a song, like 'outside, quarter line, diagonal, diagonal, outside, outside' and so on and so fourth. That'd be a bad cours,e but you get it. Set it to twinkle twinkle little star or happy b-day.

  2. The great thing about jumpers courses is that they're numbered. If you ever get lost, just look for the next fence in the sequence. Most courses have a logical flow to them, too. Also remember that the red and white flags indicate which way you jump the fence: the red flag is always on the right, the white on the left.

The more you practice looking at different courses and riding them, the easier it will become to remember them. I remember feeling so afraid I would forget my course when I first started showing. The fear dies down after a while. Just sit down with your trainer, look at the course on paper, and if possible, walk it. Walking the course not only helps you remember it, it also helps you figure out striding, where you can make inside turns, and which options ride better. Then, have your trainer put you in somewhere in the middle or end of the order of go if possible. That way, you can watch others ride the course before you go, which will help you memorize it and see where the hard questions are. By the time you get into the ring, you'll have seen and walked that course so much, you'll be focused and prepared. Best of luck!

  3. l find the best way to remember the order they go in is to follow the numbers 1,2,3 etc and to watch a few of the riders before you that way you will see the fences causing trouble and which way the riders approach them eg they go around fence 1 on the way to fence 8 or nic in front of it.  Good luck

  4. Set it to music.

"Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star" and "Happy Birthday" are the easiest.

  5. try and remember the color of the jump and or the flowers or make names for the jumps haha...but most importiantly try and learn your course really early so before u enter the arena you can just review it cuz most nerves are biggest at the in gate so if u "learn: the course there ur more likley to forget it so learn it early haha =]]

    good luck!

  6. I agree with the first answerer, songs are great, or even making stories to follow the course. I like to also simplify it by just saying things like "outside, bendy, single, diagonal, outside, single"
