Roberto Duran had a three fight series with Esteban DeJesus.  DeJesus gave Duran his first loss, but Duran avenged it twice.  I'm not sure if they were friends before they fought, but they were good friends afterward and Duran even went to the hospital when DeJesus was on his death bed dying of AIDS and told him, "You'll always be my champion."  It was no where near like the rivalry that Duran had with Sugar Ray Leonard where Duran really had a hatred for Leonard.
