Yes - Birmingham, AL, is a stop on Amtrak's Crescent route from New York to New Orleans. Also Anniston and Tuscaloosa.

A few years ago the Sunset Limited ran from Los Angeles through New Orleans to Orlando, FL. However, Katrina knocked out several bridges and tracks, and although everything has been repaired, Amtrak no longer run between New Orleans and Florida. Previously Atmore and Mobile were served by this train.
