Are there any truly free video file converting programs for download on the net ?

Can someone please tell me if there are any truly free video file converter programs on the net for free download that don't have some kinda catch to them ? For example they let you use it but fly their banner across your finished output video. Or they only allow you to convert a 30 video..Something that works well and is easy to use. Or am I asking for to much for free ? Thanks for your replies
