  1. I'm with "he who hold the remote" I have the same unit and it works beautifully. It actually broke within the first year but I got it replaced no problem. It was very easy to program and it's just as easy to use. There are some heavy duty remotes like the Sony one, but for the price I think the Logitech is your best bet.

  2. I like the SonyRM AX-4000 but it takes some time to set up. Once you understand the programming it will control pretty much anything.

Pros - Works with most devices, (up to 16) .

Programs either in learn mode or via your PC.

Good tech support from Sony, if needed.

Can be programmed for 1 touch operation.

    Software USB upgradable via WEB.

    Cons-

Not the typical style, Square and not "hand" comfortable.

    No color display. Blue-ish only.

If you want a remote that works right out of the box, you will be disappointed as it requires some time to program and set up. The Wizard doesn't always capture what you want it to do so you have to go back to program individual buttons.

PC software could be more user friendly, (there is currently a free download to upgrade.)

  3. I discovered the HarmonyLogitech 688 remote. It programs through the internet with a USB cable and has dedicated DVR buttons. It works with both my Dish and cable DVR.

    It was $118 last year.
