I might have an opportunity to visit this town for a couple of months, and I know nothing about the area (I'm from America). Are there any good universities near this town? I know things are done differently in the UK, and I'm not having any luck with my searches. Any help would be much appreciated!

  1. Yes, the University of Ulster have a campus at Newtownabbey which is only around 8 miles from Carrickfergus.

However, most of the students live in Belfast and commute because Newtownabbey/Carrickfergus isn't much craic.
