My MP3 got wet and unfortunately, my friend attempted to turn it on only after few hours of drying. However, it turned on and worked perfectly. Then, it wouldn't turn on again. Now I opened it but is there anything that indicate if it fried or not?

  1. DON'T PUT IT ON THE CHARGER.  That's assuming you haven't already.  The charger introduces a higher amount of electrical current.  That would fry your MP3 for sure.

A short circuit may be identified by a burned spot against the casing.  It may also be seen by a burn mark on the circuit board.  On the circuit board usually indicates a blown out capacitor or diode.  Something like a MP3 player used small amounts of electrical current.  So its highly likely that you won't see anything.

Its probably a burned out capacitor or diode.  Basically, an internal malfunction that you won't be able to see.  Let it dry out for a good 24 hours and then try it again.  Its always a good idea to let things dry out for 24 hours.  A few hours just don't cut it.  It still may have moisture that could cause a short.
