  1. Carrying weapons is illegal but it is pretty hard to ban knives when you can go into any homewares store and buy a 12 inch butchers meat cleaver and chefs knife set.

Some forms of swords knives and batons are illegal to buy or sell such as balisong (the flip open filipino kind) gravity knives belt buckle knives sword sticks aimed at any that have a disguise or automatic extension and locking.

There has also been a ban on the sale of swords with a curved blade over about 35 inches that are less than 100 years old unless they are japanese where they can be 50 years old, or less than 50 but made in a traditional japanese way or are being used by a stunt group or martial arts demonstrator who is licensed. This was to try to stop the sale of cheap knock offs after an MP was attacked but also bans a lot of military swords.

weapons are only weapons if they are being carried as such so transporting swords and knives must be done directly to and from home and training areas or from the shop directly home. If you go to the pub carrying the knife it becomes a weapon.

  3. Umm as far as I know, aren't knives and swords illegal in the UK?

I am sure you would be much better off buying them online to get what you want... though you would have to deal with whatever local laws that pertained to weaponry. But to my knowledge, guns, knives, swords, and even nunchaku are illegal in the UK... but I could be wrong.
