Are there any women firefighters out there?

Im thinking of becoming a firefighter, and was wondering if there are any women firefighters out there that could give me advice and tell me what it's been like for you.

i think there are women firefighters...but u have to be SUPER fit and strong.like ridiculously so. ;)

There are many women in the fire department.  Some cities are very progressive when it comes to recruiting women, and some departments still have an old school mentality when it comes to women in the fire service.

A lot of the attitude is relative to the size of the city in which you live and the area of the country.

Of course you do need to be physically fit and strong.

My city, which has a population of only 50,000 people, has 23 women firefighters. They can do the job just as well as the men. Good luck!
