  1. None that I know of.  There are associations that specialize in a particular animal though.  An example of that is the captive condor breeding program in southern california.  It is not a particular zoo or aquarium.  Many of them have programs with endangered animals but I don't know of any that specialize in ONLY endangered animals.

  2. Most zoos / aquariums have a wide range of species on their grounds -- then can range from endangered, to threatened to a normal healthy presence in the wild.  Most zoos and aquariums have a mission statement that includes being entertaining while being educational.

This is why I couldn't find a single accredited zoo or aquarium on the entire west coast that is focusing on just endangered species.

Nearly all zoos and aquariums do have highly focused endangered species programs they are noted for.  The National Zoo (run by the Smithsonian) in Washington, DC, is working extensively with a number of groups to help cheetahs.  This includes work on ways to develop genetic diversity, protect habitat, education farmers in contact with the big cats, etc.

The Baltimore Aquarium (see second link below) is very involved in efforts to turn around the overall health of the Chesapeake Bay.  From restoring shellfish, to improving water quality, to helping native plant species recover.
