I am only 10, but I have the right to wonder if there are anymore electric cars in this whole world anymore. I am getting my liscense soon and I don't want to kill the earth with all the gas that normal cars we have now. Can anyone tell me where I can find a car made of electric? If they don't make them anymore, who killed the electric car ?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!...

  1. Click the links. :)

  2. They make them. Most people just do not want them because they are expensive, have short range, and just move the pollution from the city to the electric power plant.

  3. Yes.  Right now there are mostly short-range low-speed EVs.  The best is the ZAP Xebra.

By the time you get your license there will be many more options.

Available in California in October 2008, the Aptera typ-1e will cost about $27,000 with a top speed of 95 mph and range of 120 miles per charge.

Soon thereafter Aptera will introduce the typ-1h, a plug-in hybrid version of the typ-1e with a 40-60 mile range on purely electrical energy, and a range of over 600 miles total when in electric/gas hybrid mode, for around $30,000.  On a 120 mile trip, the typ-1h will get 300 miles per gallon.  The shorter the trip, the higher the efficiency.

Available in late 2009, the ZAP Alias will cost $30,000, have a top speed of 100 mph, and a range of 100 miles per charge.

Soon thereafter the ZAP-X will be available at a cost of $60,000 with a top speed of 155 mph and a range of 350 miles per charge.

Phoenix Motorcars will start selling their SUT to individuals in late 2008 or early 2009.  It will cost $45,000 and have a top speed of 100 mph with a range of 100+ miles per charge.

The Chevy Volt will be a plug-in hybrid available around 2011 for $30-40,000.  Several other big automakers are also working on plug-in hybrids.

  4. for a 10 year old, you certainly have more smarts and concern for the enviroment. The political hacks just don't get it. those who are negative towards electric vehicles would rather support the profiteering oil industry and heck with the enviroment. I'll provide some sites for you to explore.

  5. lol im 13 and i am too getting an electric car and yes there still are some but there are some like the hybrid cars and vegtable oil cars

and YAY U for caring about the enviroment

  6. The G wiz

  7. Here is a company in Canada that makes electric cars.

    Very cheap too, 22-25k CND.

  8. Actually they've been making many electric cars because it better for the environment. By the tI'me your old enough to drive, im sure there will be many electric cars. =)

  9. Yes, there are excellent electric cars and trucks on the road, but you have to buy them from electric vehicle "conversion" (or converters) shops, which are small operators that take existing gasoline cars and convert them.

There are also "free battery electric vehicles" like the one on the video. You never have to buy another battery!

Of course, the big companies would rather that you didn't know such cars (and batteries) exists, because you'd Never Buy Another Battery Again.

Check out the EV Trading Post, too, for a list of converted electric cars available right now.
