Are there are poisonous lizards or lizards that bite in Tennessee?

I just moved to TN and there is a black lizard in my apartment. I need to know if it can hurt me before I go and chase it down.

  1. Not that are native.  There aren't too many lizards that are poisoness in general.  There are poisnous snakes though in Tennessee.


  2. There are only two species of venomous lizards in the world, gila monster and Mexican beaded lizard. Neither is found anywhere near TN.

  3. No it's non poisonous if it's a native lizard. Some lizards however will try to bite but having no teeth and weak jaws they are harmless. The only poison lizard native to North America is the Gila monster native to Arizona, New Mexico,Texas and northern Mexico.

  4. No venomous lizards in TN
