Question:

Are there better calculators than the TI-89 Titanium / Voyager 200?

The TI-89 Titanium processor runs at 12 MHz. It has 188K RAM and 2.7 MB Flash ROM. The LCD display is 160x100 pixels. It can link to another similar calculator through a standard port or to a computer via a USB port. When Texas Instruments makes a programmable version of their Inspire calculators, it'll be faster than the TI-89 (by a factor of 12), but so far as I know there's nothing programmable on the market now that can beat the TI-89 / Voyager 200.

But maybe I'm wrong. Does anyone know of a superior programmable calculator that's available now? (Laptop computers don't count.)

  1. what's "better"?

frankly, i think that the least complicated calculator that's easy to use, and will do all the things you need is probably best.

when i was working, i used a hex calculator.

    but that was unusual.

i'm a real fan of the KISS approach.  (keep it simple stupid)
