I am in love with Scotland: the culture, the sounds, the history, everything. I am planning to vacation there next year and I need to know if I will be welcome. I also would like to know some wonderful sites to see and because i love the whole country, which region will be good for vacation. This will be my dream vacation and i want it to be a great experience for me. Will someone please help me? I've tried looking the information i need up but i can't find really good information. Scotland is one of the most beautiful countries and it has such a rich hertiage that i want to have an accurate knowledge of things when i get there.

  1. Scotland, pretty much hasn't been touched. Well, it has but is not as modernized as, say America or even England. There are no theme parks or anything like that there, instead theres lots of castles and walks to do.

    Scotland is Famous for....

Its fresh water lochs (lakes) – there are over 600 square miles of them. One of the most famous is Loch Ness where a mysterious monster is said to lurk in the depths of the water.

It is also famous for its clans, kilts, medieval castles, as well as poetry and songs of Robert Burns.

Theatre lovers from around the world come to Edinburgh for its famous theatres festival.

Of course theres black people in Scotland, like there is in any country

  2. Yes, of course there are black people, although obviously they're more of a minority here than in, New York City, say, and more in the big cities than in more rural areas.

I'm glad you're excited about your trip- you're going to love Scotland!  Make sure you spend time in Edinburgh- it's a beautiful city, and very friendly and cosmopolitan, with lots to do- window shop on Princes Street (but beware of actually buying- the dollar is awfully week against the pound), tour Edinburgh castle, stroll down the Royal Mile and when evening comes, take an underground tour (Mercat Tours are fun http://www.mercattours.com/home.asp ).  Loch Ness is worth seeing- very beautiful and keep in mind you're more likely to see the monster if you go to the pub first!

I would buy a good guidebook (Eyewitness has a great one: http://www.amazon.com/Scotland-Eyewitnes...

and decide what you want to see.

Have a great trip- it's a magical place.  I came here on vacation four years ago and met the man who's now my husband!

  3. Yes there are black people in Scotland, particularly more in the big cities, like Glasgow and Edinburgh, same with other ethnic groups like indians, chinese, etc.

As for scotland itself, it is an amazing land of lovely scenery going from rolling green fields, to mountainous and craggy coastlines.  With of course the obligatory sprinkling of ancient castles too.

  4. Scotland---also called Little Canada.

Go to the west coast---to Oban, and take the  tour to Mull, Iona---and Staffa.

Iona was were Christianity was founded in Britain

Staffa, was were the composer Mendelssohn wrote Fingals Cave. You can actually go inside it at low tide.

It is a wonderful country, witha people who welcome folk from all nations. Good luck

  5. yes, their country is diverse just like ours.  They get immigrants like we do.
