  1. Its not out yet but there is a car that plans to be released in America in 2010.  It runs on Compressed Air and when going over 40 miles per hour, it uses only a fraction of the gas that is used by hybrids

  2. Not really.  I don't think there is anything on the market now that will break even in less than ten years.  Getting a smaller car and maintaining it properly is the best way to save money on gas.

Plus home made alternative fuel is considered tax evasion in many places.

  3. There are diesel and ethanol powered cars.  GM, Mercedes and VW all offer various type of each.

I believe Ford and Honda still make Natural Gas powered vehicles with (NGV) certification.

  4. Mercedes diesels high mpg and will burn food oils.

  5. I've got a couple in my yard you can have for free; you haul.

  6. 2 years ago I bought a 1976 Mercedes-Benz 300D (diesel) for $400. It ran beautifully and did not use a drop of gas.

Yesterday I bought a 1990 GMC Suburban for $700, it also runs great and uses no gasoline.

Both vehicles spent every day of their lives prior to my ownership drinking gas station bought, petroleum based synthetic compression engine fuel, commonly (and incorrectly) referred to "diesel" which may as well be the same as gas since it comes from the same place. Now they run on bio. An old car with a diesel engine is your best bet.

    Biodiesel is the future.

Hybrids are not the future nor are they has-beens. They are never-weres, completely useless.

Hydrogen cars may be widely used in the future, but the very few of them available are anything but cheap.

  7. Yes, they're called buggies, use horsepower, run on oats and hay and what's better, the horses produce gas.  Check out these vehicles in Amish country.

  8. under $15000 you can get a compressed air car. runs off of compressed air that you can get at a gas station' air compressor for around $3 for a full tank and gets at least 100 miles off that

  9. Yes.  Check out

    look at the xebra!

    Cool.  Very cool.

  10. The Amish use horses to get around.

  11. You have to define reasonable $$, to Ed Bagley and other environmental elitest, $100,000 "is a small price to pay...."

  12. Yes, of course there are.

There's one called the Zenn.  It has a top speed of 25 MPH - if the car went any faster, federal law requires it to be crash-tested.  You can travel up to 50 miles.  It is reasonable in cost - about $10,000, which is cheaper than just about any gas-powered car (the Toyota Yaris gets close, but it's around $12,000).  The Zenn is also reasonable in style.

  13. Ethanol cars 2.00 a gallon!
