Are there certain brands of gear you wear with specific types of bikes, like Icon with Suzuki ect?

I'm about to purchase my first street bike, I come from a Harley family and we would just wear hd stuff with our bikes. So when it comes to street bikes there are some things I don't know. I've been looking around websites for helmets and jackets, I've noticed some of the helmet companies have products for certain manufacturers. So what gear would I wear with a Kawasaki Ninja?

  1. Even though ICON has a Suzuki logo jacket, it doesn't make ICON necessarily the brand for Suzuki riders.  I ride a Kawasaki Ninja ZX6R and I wear an  ICON helmet and jacket as well as other gear from SHIFT and Joe Rocket.

I happened to have contacted ICON not to long ago asking them if they will have a Kawasaki jacket in which they replied that there isn't any plans at this time.

Joe Rocket has a line of Kawasaki jackets as well as Suzuki and Honda jackets

Harley Davidson riders are more specific in wearing Harley Davidson gear and less sportier, colorful gear.

Though I recommend wearing as much decent gear as possible, I say wear whatever brands you want and give yourself your own style.

  2. personally, i find the brand loyalty riders kinda lame. (ie kawi jacket, kawi shoes, etc. and bike).  they look like a billboard.

  3. it's all about preference when it comes to a street bike, get whats comfortable and what will properly protect you.

  4. No with a streetbike its all about preferance. I know that some companys make more women gear than others. I personally am a fan of icon and they have a lot of stuff for women along with joe rocket. If you want to get real picky get gloves helmet and a jacket that all are the same brand but if your like the 90 percent of streetbike riders you wont care. Hope it helps.

  5. I ride a Suzuki & have Joe Rocket leathers, Alpine Stars boots, Alpine Stars gloves & an Arai helmet. Basically I bought what fit me best & that's all that matters for me. One thing however I have stuck to is black leathers. Unless you're in Moto GP or something don't go dressing like a Power Ranger ;)

I could care less what brand goes with what. The ride, protection, & comfort is what it's all about.

I suggest you go online to see what appeals to you & then find a store that has a lot of different brands. It can get tedious trying on a lot of leathers but, find the right one, remember the size & details, then see if you can save some dough ordering online.

  6. thats just a way for companies to make money, it doenst matter what you wear. wear what looks cool. i would. but hey some people wanna act like they are super cool and know everything about it, so they wear what is "supposed" to go together. which is lame, but hey. I ride all the time, i dont even know what brand my jacket is. its black and its leather, and tahts all i need to know.
