  1. It has more to do with diet then race.

  2. Yes,try comparing a pygmy with someone from Ethiopia.

  3. No, but differing groups of differing races have clear height differences.  Asians, Africans & Europeans all have groups of people that far exceed the normal height.  Asians & Africans have groups of very short people (Negritos & pygmies). The Europeans do not have very short groups & this is probably due to extensive mixing of groups.

Asians from the North tend to be tall, while those from the South & South East tend to be short. Because most immigrants to the US have been from the South,  Americans tend to view all Asians as short. One of the tallest basketball players in the NBA is from China.

  4. The term race does not fit the question very well but there are significant differences between groups of people.  The tall est people in the world are the Dutch (surprising, no?).  The shortest are the Pygmies, Negroes in Africa.  But  the Watusi (Negroes in  Africa) are also very tall.  And the Mediterranean Europeans are short compared to other Europeans.  (This was and continues to be a problem in The European Union.  When standardization of product sizes was attempted the first negotiations failed because the shorter Spaniards Italians and so on would not agree to guides  the North Europeans wanted.)

SO, between races the answer is no.  Between groupings yes.  The real difference in height seems to be due to 2 or 3 generations of good nutrition and medical care.  Both the Japanese and the Dutch have been growing 2 inches or more per generation since WW2.  It is generally accepted that diet and national health care pr grams are the main reasons.

  5. Sure!

In India, 5'7" is the average height for a male.

In Europe, 5'7" would be considered short!
