im actually in edinburgh, and a warning:

don't rely on "paper based" brochure you can get... I was explained they are printed like a year in advance and some course might change prior the new academic year!

Also if you want better info than uni blabla, better to contact the student union and let them know your question, and ask to be forwarded to current phd students! the best way!
