  1. all door locks are easy to install all you really need is a screwdriver.. a cheap one will run you about 8-9 buck at home depot.. just follow the instructions..

  2. The best thing for you to do is remove the existing door k**b. Should just be 2 screws on one side of the door, pull both k***s off. Take to home center with you. Tell clerk you want same type k**b only one that takes a key. You will get the k**b,and the bolt -everything you need is in the box. When you get back home, take screws out of the old bolt (part that is in edge of the door) and remove the bolt. Install new bolt in edge of the door. Then slide k***s in each side and tighten the screws. Some have an adjustable bolt as some k***s have a backset (distance from edge of door to center of k**b) of  2-3/8" and some are 2-3/4". Make sure it is an adjustable bolt.

    Takes about 15 minutes.

  3. Most locks you can buy at Home Depot are easy to install. Especially if you already have the holes cut. Just follow the directions that come with the lock.

  4. it's easy to change out a doorknob with a locking one.  If you have roommates you don't trust you might want a hasp with a pad lock in addition to a locking door.
