Question:

Are there drivers to make the RJ-45 Ethernet Connector work with Windows XP?

I bought a computer with Vista on it, and installed XP. While the internet worked fine with Vista, installing XP somehow causes the computer to detect no wireless or ethernet card. Is there a way to fix this (drivers, etc) or am I stuck with Vista?

  1. The best way to see if there are drivers are to go to the manufacturer's website (on another computer) and see if they offer any drivers for Windows XP.  If they don't, and you happen to know the manufacturer of the Ethernet device you can try and get it from the manufacturer of the Ethernet card itself.

There have a been a few cases where a laptop has been designed to be Vista only.

  2. We'd need the specific make and model of your computer--XP drivers may be available from the manufacturer of the computer, or from the manufacturer of the motherboard.
