  1. Course they exist but i think there is a certain medical term for it, i dont know what it is though x

  2. Only really short people...

  3. I'm not sure. But my grandfather says he saw one and befriended it.

  4. Dwarfs exist even long before and yes they still exist in the modern times but they live in the mountains, mines, deep in the forests and buried treasures.

  5. wat do u mean of course they exist dwarfs r just people with less of the growth harmone. u make them sound as if they r some kinda mythical creatures

  6. I just saw one walking past Spencer's at the Lloyd Center mall yesterday.

  7. Yes there are dwarfs.

  8. Some little people are called dwarves. But they have to have a condition that causes dwarfism.

    Types of dwarfism:

rhizomelic = root, e.g. bones of upper arm or thigh

mesomeli = middle, e.g. bones of forearm or lower leg

acromelic = end, e.g. bones of hands and feet.

Just remember, all little people are not dwarves, just ones with a type of dwarfism.

  9. Yes, dwarves exist, but they don't often appear to humans.  The dwarves you are thinking of are probably the dusky elves, the brown underground dwarves of nature.  They have a lot of knowledge that they could share with someone who befriended them.

The other kind resembling the dwarves you know of are the dark elves, who live invisibly in unused parts of people's houses, such as the basement.  They're nocturnal, and the may some times be the reason people are afraid at night, as they have very strong energy levels.  However, if befriended, they can offer great creative insight, even if only at night.

  10. Dwarfism is a condition where a person does not achieve normal growth.  The head and torso can be nearly normal size while the limbs are short.  Yes, it does occur.  A midget is a normally proportioned person who is just abnormally small.

Just briefly, I have a brother who has lived in the jungles of Yucatan and Quintana Roo in Mexico.  We visited last year and he told me this story:

"When I first arrived in the jungle... I asked the indigenous people 'who built the ruins (referring to the great cities and pyramids of Mexico)?'  Everyone said, 'the dwarfs...'  These dwarfs were described as men of extremely short stature with heavy beards; I was also told that they avoided others and would never speak to you.  One day while I was walking through the jungle I came across one of these dwarfs.  He was as described and I couldn't get him to talk to me.  If I stood in front of him he would just walk around me.  After a few minutes I just let this strange fellow go on his way."

    So one has to wonder.

  11. Yes, Dwarfism is an ACTUAL medical condition. Anyone under the height 4`10 is considered a dwarf.

Are there such things as Munchkins or Oompa Loompas? No.

    Check out the website below...

  12. Can there really be a person in modern society who has never in their life heard of dwarfism or midgets or as they prefer to be called "little people"?

  13. yes,

Midget is a term used to describe an exceptionally short person. The terms "midget" and "dwarf" are often used synonymously, as both terms mean someone who has been short in stature since birth, but those terms were not originally synonyms.

In the 19th century and the first half of the 20th century, midget was a medical term referring to an extremely short but normally proportioned person, and was used in contrast to dwarf, which denoted disproportionate shortness. Like many other older medical terms, as it became part of popular language, it was often used in a pejorative sense. When applied to a person who is very short, midget is now often considered offensive, an example of the euphemism treadmill.[1]

Unusual shortness of stature is caused by an inherited gene and can be diagnosed at birth by several telltale signs or later when the child is a toddler. The word dwarf has generally replaced midget even for proportionally short people (proportionally short people were originally called midgets), though the term little person is preferred. According to the Little People of America, dwarfism is "a medical or genetic condition that usually results in an adult height of 4 [feet] 10 [inches] [(147 cm)] or shorter, among both men and women, although in some cases a person with a dwarfing condition may be slightly taller than that."[2]

Modern terminology now distinguishes between the two types of dwarfism using the terms proportionate dwarfism, such as primordial dwarfism, and disproportionate dwarfism, such as achondroplasia. Proportionate dwarfism is often the result of a hormonal deficiency (such as growth hormone deficiency), and it may be treated medically.

Webster's New Collegiate Dictionary (Merriam-Webster, 1961) defines "midget" in the noun form as "a very diminutive person", and in the adjective form as "like a midget in size; very diminutive", hence its usage as a synonym for "miniature", as with cars.

According to the Online Etymology Dictionary, the term "midget" comes from "midge", meaning a sand fly, and the suffix "-et", meaning little or small.[3]
