Are there earthquakes often in south korea?

I live in waegon, south korea was wondering if there is a history of earth quakes in this area

  1. Yes.  South Korea is very active geologically, especially since it is near a convergence and divergence of several plates.  Google "South Korea earthquakes" and it will bring up several recent ones.

  2. As someone who has live here for four years, I will say that yes we do have earthquakes. However the epicenter of the earthquake has not been in Korea, but often in Japan, China or off the coast in the ocean.

    For instance, when I lived in Jinju, there was an earthquake in Japan. It happened about 10am in the morning and it was enough to shake the bed back and forth for about 30 seconds. The second time was when I lived in Incheon and to most people that would have been barely noticeable because we were so far away from the epicenter, but I felt it.
