Question:

Are there extra fees/taxes if I buy a home in Dallas,TX but live in CA?

I live and work in California but I have some family in Dallas so I'd like to purchase a house over there. I'm worried about how much extra I'd have to pay on top of the mortgage. I wanted a ballpark estimate as well as any resources (web links) I could look into to do some research.

Also, would those extra fees go away if I had a co-signer who resided in TX?

  1. Not really anyother fees other than small stuff like HOA fees etc.... Try calling a local Realtor though becuase they could give you advice on fees etc.... in that area free of charge.  Remember realtors get paid by the seller, not the buyer :)

  2. No you don't have to pay anything extra.

  3. Dear Baby,

Your Mortgage holder is likely require you create an account to receive your mortgage payments and pro-rata property taxes, insurance and PMI (if lender required). These can be determined by contacting a home insurance provider, the property tax assessors office to get approximate property taxes and your lender to determine your approximate PMI costs.

None of these figures go away with a co-signer. The PMI, is an insurance premium goes away after your equity reaches about 35% and

can be eliminated in the beginning with a 35% to 40% down payment.

    Good Luck!

  4. There would be no extra charges.
