Question:

Are there flexibilities on Amtrak train checked baggage allowance?

i will be flying on a plane before taking the amtrak. i have to move with a 32kg suitcase which is allowed under the airline's checked baggage allowance. However, on amtrak's website it says their allowance for checked baggage is 50 lb / 22kg.

My thought is train or coach doesn't care about baggage weight that much as to airlines. Do you know if amtrak may just let me checked 32kg baggage (without paying any penalties)?

If this doesn't work, i will have to take a flight for the second segment of my trip. i really wanna go with amtrak tho.

thanks.

  1. ya????

  2. Now why would you want to take advantage of a company that is providing you a service.  If you really want to take Amtrak, then pay the extra fees.

  3. I have taken amtrak several times over the past few years. They will allow you to take baggage over 50lbs, but they will charge you extra.
