Are there grants available for Identified adoptions?

Question

My wife and I are in the early processes of Adopting a child. Obviously we've never done this before and are turning to the Yahoo community for insight.

I've heard the term Identified adoption used to describe what we are in the process of doing so if that is wrong, please let me know.

Does anyone know of organizations that offer financial assistance for adoptions?

when we were in the process of starting our adoption process 3 yrs ago we inquired about a grant but we were told there were not any grants available . we however found it more beneficial to take out a personal loan .
