I have a cracked windshield but I can't afford to replace it. I sometimes fear a cop will pull me over because of it. Is that even possible?

  1. Depending on the size of the crack, there are shops that can fix the crack...Check the phone book...A cracked windshield is bad because it weakens the integrity of the glass...See about getting it fixed first...And yes, you can be pulled over for this type of vehicle problem.

    All the best

  2. depends on the state you live in... a cracked windshield will draw a ticket anywhere if the crack obstructs your field of vision

  3. Sure is-it's a fix-it ticket.you will have to either get it fixed and signed off, paying a SMALL fee to the court, or, once they know you, keep getting pulled over for it-at $150-$300 a pop!

  4. A cracked windshield needs to be replaced,  but can be overlooked as long as the crack does not cross the driver's line of normal vision.    If the crack blocks your vision in any way,   it needs to be replaced or you can be cited.

Set aside what you can each week to save for the glass.   The sooner it is replaced,  the better.

  5. Just check you states department of motor vehicles site or call them and ask.

Many states will not give you a ticket if it does not block your view and some states will pass the vehicle as well.

  6. In Arizona you can be pulled over and ticketed for a cracked windshield.  You didn't say where you are so I am not sure about your state.

I do know that here in Arizona ( I buy a lot of used cars) and people take a black permanent marker and darken the crack to make it disappear.
