Could someone who is top-heavy and thick (like a Mike Tyson), built for power and speed, run a marathon?

Or does one need to drop weight to be able to do it?

  1. It's not about the body type but more about muscle type. A boxer could probably run a marathon because boxing is an endurance sport. A football player could not since football is an explosive sport. For endurance sports such as long distance running, you need to have slow twitch muscles. These muscles allow your body to work for a long time. Fast twitch muscles are for athletes that need quick movements and power like when an athlete jumps to dunk a basketball. You can determine which muscles you want by the sport you play and train them accordingly. Hope this helps. If you have any questions feel free to email me.
