Are there lists produced after a horse race of the horses that sustained an injury?

I know nothing about horse racing. However, I'm trying to identify a horse that I'm almost postive raced at Penn National on 1/04/07. He injured his leg and was sold at an auction for slaughter less than a week later. He has a lip tattoo but only 3 numbers are identifiable . If anyone has any suggestions on how I could identify this horse, I'd appreciate it! Thanks!

  1. you can go to equibase.com.look on the left hand side for results.then click on charts plus today.after it opens, plug in the date and click continue.the date will pop up and if you want the results you will have to pay $1.50. This should defonotely solve your problem.

  2. A horse can be put on the steward's list or vet's list because of an injury or physical problem that makes it dangerous for him to start.  If you know the horse raced at Penn National this year, you might contact the official track vet for information.  This is the URL for the track:  http://www.pennnational.com/

In this article, they cite Gerald (Jerry) Pack as the track vet for Penn National:  http://www.post-gazette.com/pg/06161/697...  You could try contacting him through the Pennsylvania State Racing Commission:  http://www.agriculture.state.pa.us/agric...

If you can get Dr. Pack's eMail address, you should be able to send him pictures of your horse and he would most likely be able to identify the horse, or refer you to someone who could identify the horse.

    Good luck.

  3. You can contact the track, they need to maintain records.

  4. I ran the Equibase chart for Penn National for 1/4/07.  No horses show that they were eased, vanned off or that any of them broke down. In order to be placed on a vet's list any of these would have had to occur. Why are you so sure it was 1/4/07. Perhaps it was another date. If so you would have to call the track veterinarian but you might need the horse's name depending on how they keep their records. I can search some more dates for you and it would help if you had a description age, s*x, color so I could investigate further in case I did find a breakdown. What was the nature of his injury. He could have left the track apparently sound but have the lameness show up while cooling out or even the next day. I've seen horses do that, even cooling out well only to come up with a chip fracture the next day

There was one horse that ran on 1/2/07 that was distanced and was not given a finish margin. This is his chart line
